The world can be an overwhelming place. And, more often than not, this overload can be too much to handle by ourselves. The stress and anxiety that come with daily routines can sometimes take a toll on one’s mental and emotional wellbeing. We all need the tools to navigate these tough times, and that’s where therapy comes in. However, not everyone has the privilege to attend in-person therapy sessions. That’s where online psychotherapy enters the picture.

Online psychotherapy is a form of therapy conducted virtually, using teleconferencing apps like Zoom or Skype. Research shows that this kind of therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. In fact, the convenience and flexibility of online therapy can make it more accessible to people who find it challenging to attend in-person sessions. Online therapy provides the same confidentiality, security, and quality of care as traditional therapy, but with the added benefit of being able to access it virtually.

There are so many different types of situations or experiences that can create a need for therapy:

  • You could be stressed and are having difficulty at work
  • You might realize that you have been feeling more “down” than usual
  • Perhaps you are struggling with a difficult adjustment at home
  • Your child is acting out and you aren’t sure how to deal with it
  • Going through a breakup
  • You moved to a new city
  • Or you might want to improve your marriage and your friendships

Online therapy also offers an added layer of discretion since you can receive therapy from the privacy of their own homes or other preferred locations. This anonymity and privacy can be appealing, especially if you don’t want to risk being seen by someone else during an in-person session.
